Schutz American School (SAS) has a rich 92+ year tradition of providing a challenging American-based educational program, in English, for students ages 3-18 in Alexandria, Egypt. “Schutz is family,” our motto, has characterized SAS since its beginning in 1924. We serve 286 students from both international and Egyptian families. Our commitment is to provide students with a well-rounded technology rich program and small class sizes to develop their full intellectual, emotional, physical and social potential. Our focus is on personalized approaches to achieve our mission, “to empower all of our students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to fulfill their life-long aspirations and to act to better their communities.” Our aim is to cultivate responsible global citizens who are “smart with a heart.” SAS is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). We offer the Advanced Placement (AP) program providing the opportunity for our graduates to attend the finest colleges and universities around the world. Members of the staff recruited from abroad live on campus. The school provides furnished apartments, daily meals, and housekeeping and laundry services so that staff can focus on their professional work in addition to enjoying personal time away from campus without restrictions. Yearly airfare allowance, dental, vision, life, and worldwide medical insurance, beginning and end of employment moving allowance, a 10% of base salary retirement saving plan, and professional development opportunities are also provided. Salaries are paid in US dollars with US Social Security payments.
