Pinewood ndash; The American International School of Thessaloniki, Greece, is an independent, co-educational PreK-12 school offering an internationally-minded American college-preparatory curriculum and International Baccalaureate Diploma program to students from the local and international communities. The school 's fine arts and information technology programs enhance all areas of instruction and the extensive After-School Activities Program encourages students to participate in a full range of activities outside the classroom. Students are given individualized attention within small class settings. As a whole, the academic program challenges students to develop critical, philosophical and ethical thinking skills. All students in Grades 2-10 take the NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress), an externally designed computer adaptive assessment test in English, Mathematics and Science, each year. All students in Grades 10 and 11 take the College Board PSAT each year in October. Preparation courses are also offered to all students for the SAT I on Saturday mornings. One-hundred percent of Pinewood 's graduates go on to attend university in the United States, United Kingdom, English-speaking universities in other parts of the world and other national universities. The school, established in 1950, is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges amp; Schools and has been an IBO World School member since 1999. In addition, Pinewood is a member of the Near/East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NE/SA) and is sponsored by the Office of Overseas Schools, U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.
