School Description:

Escuela Americana of El Salvador, is an independent, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school of over 1400 students from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade. EA is accredited by ASCS/AdvancEd, and the Salvadoran Ministry of Education. The mission of Escuela Americana is to provide top quality, American style, university-prep education, and to provide models and leadership in education to both El Salvador and the region. The school is divided into three divisions: Lower School (Grade PK-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), and Upper School (Grades 9-12). EA also features a learning differences program and learning support services. The curriculum follows a combination of U.S. and Salvadoran programs, with the majority of instruction in English; curriculum for grades 9-12 is that of U.S. college preparatory schools, as well as the Salvadoran Bachillerato program. Class sizes do not typically exceed 20, with an overall student-teacher ratio of 18-to-1. EA offers a large and varied service learning program, that enables students from all divisions to perform community service throughout the school year.
